This study examines the relationship between the degree of hearing impairment and the development and consolidation of language skills in a 13-year-old deaf student, identified as YAP, enrolled at SLB 25 Sintang. At this age, the subject is already in the advanced language phase, meaning the focus of the study is not on primary language acquisition but on how language abilities continue to develop, stabilize, and adapt under conditions of auditory limitation. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, and language assessments covering phonological, morphological, and syntactic aspects. The findings indicate that YAP experiences difficulties at the phonological level due to restricted auditory input but demonstrates adaptive communication strategies through visual cues and sign language. Meanwhile, morphological and syntactic development progresses more slowly than that of hearing peers yet continues to improve with intensive stimulation at school. These results underscorethe importance of early detection of hearing impairment, multimodal intervention, and continuous instructional support to optimize language development in deaf children at the advanced stage.
