PERSEPSI SISWA EFL TERHADAP PENGGUNAAN BAAMBOOZLE DI PEMBELAJARAN KOSAKATA

Abstrak

Penelitian tentang kosakata bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, khususnya frasa kata kerja, terus dilakukan karena fungsinya untuk meningkatkan kefasihan dan mencapai pengucapan seperti penutur asli. Berbagai metode bahkan digunakan agar siswa lebih terlibat dalam suasana pembelajaran kosakata yang bermakna, salah satunya adalah dengan menggunakan gamifikasi berbasis teknologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan studi kasus sebagai desain penelitian, untuk menyelidiki persepsi pembelajar EFL terhadap gamifikasi berbasis teknologi menggunakan Baamboozle untuk pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan wawancara semi terstruktur terhadap dua siswa berprestasi tinggi dan dua siswa berprestasi rendah pada Program Kelas Internasional kelas 8 di salah satu SMP swasta di Malang, Indonesia. Setelah memperoleh data, peneliti menganalisisnya melalui tiga tahap: pengenalan dan pengorganisasian, pengkodean dan reduksi, serta interpretasi dan representasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap Baamboozle sebagai media pembelajaran kosakata. Mereka menyatakan bahwa Baamboozle menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan, meningkatkan fokus, meningkatkan perolehan dan retensi kosakata, menumbuhkan sikap kompetitif, memotivasi siswa untuk mempelajari kosakata, dan mendukung kegiatan kelompok, yang mengarah pada peningkatan keterlibatan siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, pemanfaatan gamifikasi berbasis teknologi menggunakan Baamboozle direkomendasikan dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris.
